A delightful dessert combining chocolate, cherries, and whipped cream in a visually stunning layered treat.

  • Total Time: 1 hour
  • Yield: 8 servings

Ingredients

  • Chocolate cake (store-bought or homemade)
  • Canned cherries or fresh cherries (pitted)
  • Whipped cream
  • Chocolate shavings or cocoa powder (for garnish)
  • Kirsch (cherry brandy) – optional

Instructions

  1. Prepare the chocolate cake according to recipe or package instructions and let it cool.
  2. Layer pieces of chocolate cake at the bottom of a trifle bowl or individual glasses.
  3. Add a layer of cherries on top of the cake.
  4. Spoon a layer of whipped cream over the cherries.
  5. Repeat the layers until all ingredients are used, finishing with whipped cream on top.
  6. Garnish with chocolate shavings or a dusting of cocoa powder, and add a splash of Kirsch if desired.
  7. Chill before serving to allow flavors to meld.

Notes

For a twist, use different types of berries instead of cherries or add layers of vanilla pudding for creaminess. Store leftovers tightly covered in the refrigerator for 2-3 days.
