- 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1 cup brown sugar, packed
- 4 large eggs
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 1 cup sour cream
- 1 1/2 cups chocolate chips
- Cookie dough for filling (store-bought or homemade)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease three 9-inch round cake pans.
- Whisk together flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt in a medium bowl.
- Cream together the softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy in a large bowl.
- Beat in the eggs one at a time, then mix in the vanilla extract.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, alternating with the sour cream, until just combined.
- Fold in the chocolate chips.
- Divide the batter evenly among the prepared pans and smooth the tops.
- Bake for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
- Allow the cakes to cool in the pans for 10 minutes before transferring to wire racks to cool completely.
- Layer the cakes with cookie dough in between and frost the top and sides with your favorite frosting. Serve and enjoy!
Notes
Serve with ice cream for extra sweetness. Store leftovers in an airtight container.
