- 1 pound jalapeno peppers, sliced
- 2 cups granulated sugar
- 2/3 cup apple cider vinegar
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/2 teaspoon turmeric
- 1/2 teaspoon celery seed
- 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper
- 1/4 teaspoon ground mustard
- 1/4 teaspoon kosher salt
Instructions
- Slice jalapenos into thin rings.
- In a saucepan, combine sugar, apple cider vinegar, and the spices.
- Bring the mixture to a simmer over medium heat.
- Add the sliced jalapenos to the saucepan and simmer briefly (about 5 minutes).
- Use a slotted spoon to remove the jalapenos and set them aside.
- Continue to simmer the syrup until it becomes glossy, about 10 to 15 minutes.
- Pour the syrup over the jalapenos in a jar or container.
- Let them cool before sealing the jar and placing it in the refrigerator.
Notes
Wear gloves when handling jalapenos and adjust sugar levels to taste. For more heat, leave some seeds in the peppers.
