Instructions
- Cook the macaroni according to package instructions until al dente, then drain and set aside.
- In a large saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat. Stir in the flour and cook for about 1 minute until bubbly.
- Gradually whisk in the milk, cooking until the mixture thickens, about 3-5 minutes.
- Remove from heat and stir in the shredded white cheddar cheese until melted and smooth.
- Add the cooked macaroni to the cheese sauce, stirring to combine. Season with salt and pepper.
- If desired, transfer the mixture to a baking dish, sprinkle with breadcrumbs, and bake at 350°F (175°C) for about 20 minutes until golden brown.
