- 2 large onions
- 1 cup buttermilk
- 1 cup ice water
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon paprika
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Cooking oil spray
Instructions
- Slice the tops off the onions and peel them. Cut the onions into petal shapes, being careful not to cut all the way through.
- Soak the onions in a mixture of buttermilk and ice water for at least 30 minutes.
- Mix together the flour, garlic powder, paprika, salt, and pepper in a bowl.
- Remove the onions from the soak and dry them very well.
- Coat the onions lightly in the flour mixture.
- Preheat the air fryer to 400°F (200°C).
- Place the coated onions in the air fryer basket and spray with cooking oil.
- Air fry for about 15 minutes, or until golden brown and crispy.
- Serve hot with your favorite dipping sauce.
Notes
Serve with dipping sauces like ranch, spicy mayo, or ketchup. Consider adding fresh herbs for presentation.
