Ingredients
Scale
- 1 medium head of green cabbage, cleaned and cut into large triangular pieces
- 1 lb smoked turkey sausage, sliced into rounds
- 1 lb ground beef
- 1 medium onion, chopped
- 1 green bell pepper, chopped
- 1 red bell pepper, chopped
- 1 tablespoon Cajun seasoning (or to taste)
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- ½ teaspoon black pepper
- ½ teaspoon paprika
- ½ teaspoon salt (adjust to taste)
- 1 tablespoon olive oil or cooking oil
Instructions
- Clean the cabbage thoroughly. Cut the head into triangular wedges and slice each piece down the middle. Chop the onions and peppers, and slice the turkey sausages into rounds.
- Heat oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the sausage slices and sauté until browned. Remove the sausages and set aside.
- Add the ground beef to the same pan and season with Cajun seasoning, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, salt, and black pepper. Cook until browned, then remove and drain excess grease.
- In the same pan, add cabbage, onions, and bell peppers. Sprinkle with additional seasoning and stir well.
- Cover the pan and cook on medium-low for 15–20 minutes, stirring occasionally until cabbage is tender.
- Add the cooked beef and sausages back to the pan, stir everything together, and cook uncovered for 5 more minutes.
- Serve hot with cornbread or rice.
