A delicious burger without the bun, featuring juicy beef, melted cheese, and sweet caramelized onions.

  • Total Time: 30 minutes
  • Yield: 4 servings 1x

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 4 slices of cheese (cheddar, American, or your choice)
  • 1 onion, sliced
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • Optional toppings: lettuce, tomato, pickles, mustard, or ketchup

Instructions

  1. Preheat a grill or skillet over medium-high heat.
  2. Form the ground beef into patties and season with salt and pepper.
  3. Cook the patties on the grill or skillet for about 4-5 minutes on each side or until they reach your desired doneness.
  4. While the patties are cooking, melt butter in a separate pan over medium heat and add the sliced onions. Cook until caramelized, about 10-15 minutes.
  5. During the last minute of cooking the patties, place a slice of cheese on each patty to melt.
  6. Assemble the burgers by layering the beef patty with melted cheese, caramelized onions, and any optional toppings you prefer.
  7. Serve immediately and enjoy!

Notes

Let the patties rest for a few minutes after cooking to keep them juicy. Experiment with different types of cheese for unique flavors.
