A hearty sandwich filled with tender beef, sautéed vegetables, and gooey cheese in a soft hoagie roll.

Ingredients

  • 8 oz baby bella mushrooms (sliced)
  • 1 green bell pepper (sliced)
  • 1 yellow onion (sliced)
  • 4 tbsp butter (divided)
  • 2 tbsp cooking oil (divided)
  • 1214 oz shaved beef steak
  • ¾ tsp salt
  • ½ tsp garlic powder
  • ½ tsp freshly cracked black pepper
  • 2 tsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 5 hoagie rolls
  • 6 slices provolone cheese

Instructions

  1. Heat 1 tablespoon of butter and 1 tablespoon of cooking oil in a large skillet over medium heat.
  2. Add the sliced mushrooms, green bell pepper, and yellow onion. Sauté until soft, about 5-7 minutes.
  3. Remove the vegetables from the skillet and set aside.
  4. Add the remaining oil and butter to the same skillet. Once melted, add the shaved beef steak.
  5. Season the beef with salt, garlic powder, black pepper, and Worcestershire sauce. Cook until browned, about 3-5 minutes.
  6. Stir the sautéed vegetables back into the pan with the beef and mix well for about 1-2 minutes.
  7. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  8. Split the hoagie rolls and place them on a baking sheet. Fill each roll with the beef and vegetable mixture.
  9. Top each sandwich with a slice of provolone cheese.
  10. Bake in the oven for about 5-7 minutes or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.

Notes

Serve hot with fries or salad. Store leftovers in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
