- 1 pound Ground Turkey
- 1 cup Mushrooms, finely chopped
- 1 cup Bell Peppers, finely chopped
- 1 can Black Beans, drained
- ½ cup Tomato Sauce
- ¼ cup Barbecue Sauce
- 2 tablespoons Worcestershire Sauce
- 1 tablespoon Apple Cider Vinegar
- 1 tablespoon Brown Sugar
- 1 teaspoon Chili Powder
- 1 teaspoon Crushed Red Pepper
- 1 teaspoon Onion Powder

Instructions
- Add the ground turkey to a large skillet over medium heat. Cook until browned, breaking it apart with a spatula.
- Add the finely chopped mushrooms and bell peppers to the skillet. Sauté for about 3-4 minutes until they soften.
- Stir in the black beans, tomato sauce, barbecue sauce, Worcestershire sauce, apple cider vinegar, and brown sugar. Mix well.
- Season with chili powder, crushed red pepper, onion powder, salt, and pepper. Adjust the spices to your taste.
- Allow the mixture to simmer for about 10 minutes, stirring occasionally until everything is heated through.
- Serve the sloppy joe mixture on whole grain buns or over a bed of lettuce for a low-carb option.
Notes
For a vegan option, substitute ground turkey with lentils or chickpeas and ensure sauces are vegan-friendly.
