- 1 lb ground turkey
- 2 large sweet potatoes, peeled and diced
- 1 cup light cream or milk
- 1 onion, chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tsp dried thyme
- 1 tsp dried oregano
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Olive oil
- 1 cup shredded cheese (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
- In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add onion and garlic, sauté until soft.
- Add ground turkey, season with thyme, oregano, salt, and pepper. Cook until turkey is browned.
- In a baking dish, layer the diced sweet potatoes evenly.
- Pour the turkey mixture over the sweet potatoes.
- In a bowl, mix light cream with a pinch of salt and pour over the layers in the baking dish.
- If using, sprinkle cheese on top.
- Cover with foil and bake for 30 minutes.
- Remove the foil and bake an additional 15-20 minutes, until sweet potatoes are tender and the top is golden. Serve warm.
Notes
For extra flavor, consider adding spices like paprika or chili powder. You can substitute ground turkey with ground chicken or lean beef if desired.
