A simple and delicious homemade salsa perfect for dips, tacos, and grilled meats.

  • Total Time: 10 minutes
  • Yield: 4 servings 1x

Ingredients

Scale
  • 3 ½ cups chopped tomatoes (or 28-ounce can of diced tomatoes)
  • 1/4 small onion
  • 1/3 cup fresh cilantro
  • 2 tablespoons fresh lime juice
  • 1 small jalapeno pepper (seeds removed)
  • ½ teaspoon ground cumin
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon sugar

Instructions

  1. Chop the tomatoes and place them in a strainer for 5 minutes to drain some liquid.
  2. Add the tomatoes and other ingredients to a blender or food processor.
  3. Use short pulses until everything is blended to your preferred consistency.
  4. Transfer the salsa to a jar and store it in the refrigerator for up to one week.

Notes

For a smoother salsa, blend it longer; for a chunkier texture, pulse it less. Adjust jalapeno for spiciness.
