Homemade Scotch Eggs are a rich, satisfying snack that blends sausage and hard-boiled eggs in a crispy coating.

  • Total Time: 35 minutes
  • Yield: 4 servings 1x

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 pound breakfast sausage
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs
  • 2 tablespoons flour
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Oil for frying (if deep-frying)

Instructions

  1. Boil the eggs for 7-8 minutes. Once cooked, cool them in cold water and peel off the shells.
  2. In a bowl, mix the sausage with salt and pepper.
  3. Divide the sausage into 4 equal portions. Shape each portion around a boiled egg, making sure it is fully covered.
  4. Roll each egg in flour, dip it in beaten egg, then coat it in breadcrumbs.
  5. Preheat your air fryer to 350°F or heat oil if you plan to deep-fry.
  6. Cook the eggs in the air fryer for 12-15 minutes, or deep-fry until golden brown.
  7. Let the eggs cool slightly before serving.

Notes

For a crunchier texture, use panko breadcrumbs and consider adding herbs or cheese to the sausage mixture.
