- 4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 cup warm whole milk
- 2 1/4 tsp active dry yeast
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1 tsp salt
- 3 large eggs
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 1 egg + 1 tbsp milk (for egg wash)
Instructions
- Combine warm milk and yeast in a mixing bowl. Let it sit for 5-10 minutes until frothy.
- Mix flour, sugar, and salt in a large bowl. Make a well in the center and add eggs and yeast mixture.
- Mix until combined.
- Add melted butter and knead the dough until smooth and elastic.
- Let the dough rise in a warm place until doubled in size, about 60-120 minutes.
- Punch down the dough and shape it into a loaf.
- Place the dough in a greased loaf pan and let it rise again until doubled.
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Brush the top with the egg wash.
- Bake for 30-35 minutes until golden brown.
- Let cool before slicing and serving.
Notes
Wrap in plastic wrap for storage; lasts up to 3 days at room temperature. Freeze for longer storage.
