Ingredients
Scale
- 1 lb Sausage Meat (Use your favorite seasoned ground sausage)
- 1 cup Finely Diced Onion (Shallots can be substituted)
- 2 cloves Garlic (minced)
- 1 tbsp Dried Sage (Fresh sage can elevate the flavor)
- 1 tbsp Dried Thyme (Consider fresh thyme if available)
- 1 tsp Ground Black Pepper (Adjust based on spice preference)
- 1 tsp Salt (Reduce or omit for lower sodium)
- 1 packet Puff Pastry (Homemade or store-bought)
- 1 large Egg (For egg wash)
- 1 tbsp Olive Oil (Can use any neutral oil)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
- Heat the olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Add onion and cook until soft and translucent, about 5 minutes.
- Add the minced garlic, dried sage, thyme, black pepper, and salt. Cook for another minute until fragrant.
- Combine the cooked onion mixture with the sausage meat in a bowl and mix well.
- Roll out the puff pastry on a floured surface and cut it into 4-inch wide strips.
- Place a line of the sausage mixture along the center of each pastry strip.
- Fold the pastry over the filling and pinch the edges to seal. Cut each roll into desired lengths.
- Arrange the rolls on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Brush the tops with beaten egg for a golden finish.
- Bake for 20-25 minutes or until the pastry is golden brown and flaky.
- Let them cool slightly before serving.
Notes
Serve warm with dipping sauces like mustard or spicy ketchup. Store leftovers in an airtight container.
