- 2 pounds round steak
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 onion, sliced
- 2 garlic cloves, minced
- 1 can (15 ounces) diced tomatoes
- 1 cup beef broth
- 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
- 1 teaspoon dried oregano
- 1 tablespoon chopped fresh parsley (for garnish)
Instructions
- Season the round steak with salt and pepper.
- In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium-high heat and sear the steak until browned on both sides.
- Remove the steak and set aside.
- In the same skillet, add sliced onion and garlic, cooking until softened.
- Stir in diced tomatoes, beef broth, Worcestershire sauce, and oregano.
- Return the steak to the skillet, cover, and reduce the heat. Simmer for 90 to 120 minutes until the meat is tender.
- Serve hot, garnished with fresh parsley, alongside mashed potatoes or egg noodles.
Notes
For extra flavor, add a splash of red wine to the sauce. You can also incorporate other vegetables like carrots or bell peppers.
