Ingredients
Scale
- 1 pound smoked sausage, sliced
- 12 ounces penne or rotini pasta
- 2 cups chicken broth
- 1 cup heavy cream
- ¾ cup honey BBQ sauce
- 1 cup cheddar cheese, shredded
- ½ cup diced onions
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- Heat olive oil in a large pot over medium heat. Sauté diced onions until translucent (about 3-4 minutes).
- Add sliced smoked sausage and cook until browned (5-6 minutes).
- Season with garlic powder, salt, and pepper.
- Pour in chicken broth and bring to a boil. Add pasta and cook according to package instructions until al dente (8-10 minutes).
- Reduce heat to low, stir in heavy cream and honey BBQ sauce until well combined.
- Gradually add cheddar cheese, stirring until melted and creamy.
- Adjust seasonings if needed and garnish with chopped parsley before serving.
Notes
For extra flavor, consider adding some bell peppers or spinach when cooking the onions. You can adjust the sweetness by using more or less honey BBQ sauce.
