Ingredients
Scale
- 1 lb smoked sausage, sliced
- 2 tbsp butter
- 4 garlic cloves, minced
- 1 cup orzo pasta
- 2 cups chicken broth
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- Melt the butter in a large pot or skillet over medium heat.
- Add the sliced sausage and cook until browned, about 5-7 minutes.
- Stir in the minced garlic and cook for another 1-2 minutes until fragrant.
- Add the orzo pasta and mix well with the sausage.
- Pour in the chicken broth and bring to a boil. Reduce heat to low, cover, and simmer for about 10 minutes, stirring occasionally.
- Once the orzo is tender and the liquid is mostly absorbed, stir in the heavy cream, Parmesan cheese, salt, and pepper. Cook for an additional 2-3 minutes until creamy.
- Serve hot, garnished with fresh parsley if desired.
Notes
For a healthier option, add vegetables like spinach or bell peppers. Adjust cream and cheese for desired creaminess.
