A quick, comforting meal combining savory sausage with creamy orzo, all cooked in one pot for easy clean-up.

  • Total Time: 30 minutes
  • Yield: 4 servings 1x

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb smoked sausage, sliced
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 4 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 cup orzo pasta
  • 2 cups chicken broth
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Melt the butter over medium heat in a large pot or skillet.
  2. Add the sliced sausage and cook until browned (about 5-7 minutes).
  3. Stir in the minced garlic and cook for another 1-2 minutes until fragrant.
  4. Add the orzo pasta and mix it well with the sausage.
  5. Pour in the chicken broth and bring to a boil.
  6. Reduce heat to low, cover, and simmer for about 10 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  7. Once the orzo is tender and the liquid is mostly absorbed, stir in heavy cream, Parmesan cheese, salt, and pepper.
  8. Cook for an additional 2-3 minutes until creamy.
  9. Serve hot, garnished with fresh parsley if desired.

Notes

Use your favorite type of smoked sausage or add vegetables like spinach for extra nutrition. Store leftovers in an airtight container for 3-4 days.
