- 1 package of puff pastry
- 2 cups whole milk
- 3/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
- 6 large egg yolks
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 cinnamon stick
- Lemon peel (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C).
- Roll out the puff pastry and cut it into circles to fit into a muffin tin.
- Place the pastry circles in the muffin tin and press them down gently.
- In a saucepan, combine the milk, sugar, cinnamon stick, and lemon peel over medium heat until hot, but not boiling.
- Whisk together the egg yolks and flour until smooth. Gradually add the hot milk mixture to the egg yolk mixture, whisking constantly.
- Strain the mixture back into the saucepan and cook over low heat until thickened, stirring frequently.
- Fill the pastry shells with the custard mixture.
- Bake for 15-20 minutes or until the tops are golden and slightly caramelized.
- Let cool slightly before serving.
Notes
Serve warm or at room temperature, optionally sprinkled with powdered sugar or cinnamon.
