Ingredients

  • 1 pound sausage
  • 1 cup grits
  • 4 cups water or chicken broth
  • 1 cup shredded cheese (cheddar or your choice)
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Bring the water or broth to a boil in a large pot, then stir in the grits and cook according to package instructions until thickened.
  3. Cook the sausage in a skillet over medium heat until browned. Drain the excess fat.
  4. Combine the cooked grits, sausage, cheese, eggs, milk, salt, pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder in a mixing bowl. Mix everything well.
  5. Transfer the mixture to a greased baking dish and spread it evenly.
  6. Bake for 35-40 minutes or until set and golden on top.
  7. Let cool slightly before serving.
