Ingredients
Scale
- 1 pound Ground Beef (80/20)
- 2 medium Yellow Onions
- 4 slices Swiss Cheese
- 8 slices Rye Bread
- 2 tablespoons Butter
- ¼ cup Mayonnaise
- 2 tablespoons Ketchup
- 1 tablespoon Dijon Mustard
- 1 teaspoon Worcestershire Sauce
- ½ teaspoon Smoked Paprika
Instructions
- Begin by slicing the yellow onions. In a skillet over medium heat, melt one tablespoon of butter and add the sliced onions. Cook them for about 10-12 minutes until they are soft and caramelized. Stir occasionally to prevent burning.
- Prepare the secret sauce. In a small bowl, combine the mayonnaise, ketchup, Dijon mustard, Worcestershire sauce, and smoked paprika. Mix until smooth and set aside.
- Cook the ground beef in another skillet over medium-high heat. Season it with salt and pepper to taste. Once cooked to your desired doneness, remove it from the heat.
- Assemble the patty melts. Take two slices of rye bread and spread a layer of the secret sauce on one side of each slice.
- Layer on one slice half of the cooked ground beef, half of the caramelized onions, and two slices of Swiss cheese. Place the second slice of bread on top, sauce side down.
- Add another tablespoon of butter to the same skillet used for the beef. Carefully place the sandwich on the skillet. Cook for about 3-4 minutes on each side until the bread is golden brown and the cheese is melted.
- Repeat the process for the second sandwich.
- Slice both sandwiches in half and serve hot.
Notes
Serve warm with crispy fries or a simple salad. Add pickles or jalapeños for an extra kick.
