A tasty, low-carb dish combining ground beef and crunchy cabbage with flavorful seasonings.

  • Total Time: 25 minutes
  • Yield: 4 servings 1x

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 medium head cabbage, roughly chopped
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon fresh ginger, grated
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce (or tamari for gluten-free)
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar substitute (like Swerve or monk fruit)
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil
  • 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
  • 1/4 cup green onions, sliced
  • 1 tablespoon sesame seeds (for garnish)
  • Salt and pepper (to taste)
  • Red pepper flakes (optional)

Instructions

  1. Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the ground beef and cook until it’s browned, breaking it apart as it sizzles, about 5-7 minutes.
  2. Stir in minced garlic and grated ginger, cooking for 1-2 minutes until the mixture is fragrant.
  3. Pour in soy sauce, brown sugar substitute, sesame oil, and rice vinegar. Mix well until the beef is completely coated in the sauce.
  4. Add the chopped cabbage and gently fold it into the beef mixture. Cover the skillet and let it cook for 5-7 minutes until the cabbage is tender but still crunchy.
  5. Uncover the skillet and toss in sliced green onions. Season with salt, pepper, and red pepper flakes if desired. Cook for another 2-3 minutes until everything is perfectly combined.
  6. Remove from heat and sprinkle sesame seeds on top for garnish before serving. Enjoy it hot!

Notes

For extra flavor, let the beef marinate in the sauce for 30 minutes before cooking. Add other vegetables for more nutrition or spice things up with fresh chilies.
