Ingredients

  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • ½ teaspoon baking soda
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon cinnamon
  • ½ cup butter, softened
  • ¾ cup brown sugar
  • ¼ cup granulated sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon maple extract
  • ½ cup sour cream
  • ½ cup milk
  • 1 cup powdered sugar (for glaze)
  • 2 tablespoons melted butter (for glaze)
  • ¼ cup maple syrup (for glaze)
  • milk (for glaze, as needed)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease or line a 9×13-inch baking pan with parchment paper.
  2. Whisk together flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, and cinnamon in a medium bowl.
  3. Beat the softened butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar until light and fluffy in a large bowl.
  4. Add the eggs, vanilla extract, and maple extract to the butter mixture and mix well.
  5. Mix in the sour cream and milk until smooth.
  6. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients and mix just until combined.
  7. Spread the batter evenly in the prepared pan.
  8. Bake for 20–25 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  9. Let the bars cool completely.
  10. Whisk together powdered sugar, melted butter, maple syrup, and maple extract for the glaze. Add milk slowly until the glaze is pourable.
  11. Spread the glaze evenly over the cooled bars and allow it to set before slicing.

Notes

Best served at room temperature. Store in an airtight container for up to 3 days or refrigerate for a week. Freeze for up to 2 months.
