Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 1/2 cups warm water
  • 1 packet active dry yeast
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2/3 cup baking soda
  • 1 egg, beaten

Instructions

  2. Add the flour and salt, then mix until a dough forms. Knead for about 5 minutes until smooth.
  3. Cover the bowl and let the dough rise for 30-60 minutes until it has doubled in size.
  4. Preheat the oven to 450°F (232°C).
  5. Bring 10 cups of water and baking soda to a boil in a pot.
  6. Divide the dough into small pieces and roll each into bite-sized shapes.
  7. Boil each pretzel bite for 30 seconds, then transfer them to a baking sheet.
  8. Brush the pretzel bites with the beaten egg and sprinkle with coarse sea salt.
  9. Bake for 12-15 minutes until golden brown.
  10. Serve warm with your favorite dipping sauces.

Notes

Make sure the water is warm but not hot to activate the yeast. Knead the dough well for texture.
