- 1 lb Italian sausage, sliced
- 12 oz penne pasta
- 1 cup BBQ sauce
- 1/2 cup honey
- 1/4 cup apple cider vinegar
- 1 medium onion, chopped
- 1 bell pepper, chopped
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
Instructions
- Cook the penne pasta in a large pot of salted boiling water until al dente. Drain and set aside.
- In a skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add the sliced sausage and brown it on all sides.
- Stir in the chopped onion and bell pepper; sauté until tender.
- In a bowl, mix together BBQ sauce, honey, apple cider vinegar, crushed red pepper flakes, and garlic powder. Pour the sauce into the skillet and stir to coat the sausage and vegetables.
- Add the cooked pasta to the skillet; toss well to combine and heat through.
- Sprinkle shredded cheddar cheese on top; cover until melted.
- Season with salt and pepper before serving warm.
Notes
For added flavor, use a variety of sausages or adjust the heat level with crushed red pepper flakes. You can also add more vegetables for extra nutrition.
