- 3 cups all-purpose flour, plus more for kneading
- 1 ½ teaspoons salt or 2 teaspoons sea salt
- 1 teaspoon active dry yeast
- 1 ½ cups sharp cheddar cheese, shredded
- 2 jalapeños, seeds removed and diced
- 1 ½ cups warm water (105°F to 110°F)
Instructions
- Mix the flour, salt, yeast, cheese, and jalapeños in a large bowl until well combined.
- Pour the warm water into the bowl and stir until the dough forms a wet and sticky ball.
- Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and let it rise in a warm place for 8-18 hours.
- Preheat your oven to 450°F and place a 2.75-quart Dutch oven inside for about 30 minutes.
- Punch down the dough and transfer it onto a floured sheet of parchment paper, shaping it into a ball.
- Let the dough rest for 30 minutes, lightly covered with plastic wrap.
- Remove the Dutch oven from the oven, place the dough with parchment into it, cover, and bake for 45 minutes.
- Uncover and bake for an additional 10-15 minutes until golden brown.
- Cool slightly before serving.
Notes
Best served warm with butter or as sandwiches. Store in an airtight container for up to three days, or freeze for longer storage.
